Seventeen-year-old Mack Rutherford has become the youngest person to fly solo around the world in a small aircraft. He landed in Bulgaria, a country in southeastern Europe, on August 24 after his five-month journey.

Mack is from Belgium and England. He landed on an airstrip near Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, to claim two Guinness World Records. The teen is the youngest person to fly around the world by himself, and also the youngest person to go entirely around the globe in a microlight plane. 

Mack said he hoped his achievement would inspire young people. “No matter how old you are — work hard and move forward to achieve your goals,” he said after he stepped out of the aircraft.

17歳のマック・ラザフォードが、小型飛行機を一人で世界一周をして、世界最年少記録となりました。彼は5ヶ月の旅を終え、8月24日にヨーロッパ南東部の国ブルガリアに到着しました。

ラザフォードは、ベルギーとイギリス出身で、ブルガリアの首都ソフィアの近くの滑走路に到着し、2つのギネス世界記録を達成しました。一人で地球を一周した最年少記録と、マイクロライト飛行機で地球を一周した最年少記録を達成しました。

ラザフォードは、自分の記録が若い人たちに勇気を与えることを願っていると語りました。「何歳であろうと、目標を達成するために努力し、前進することが大切です」と、機体から降りた後に語りました。
