The spread of monkeypox starting from May 2022 has come to a decline in the US and globally. 

Global cases have reached 59,600, and there have been nearly 23,000 confirmed cases in the US,  Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky said last month.

However some jurisdictions are still seeing an increase in monkeypox cases according to Welensky and the government must maintain its vigilance in addressing the virus to prevent an increase.

“We approach this news with cautious optimism,” Walensky said at the briefing. “We must continue to aggressively respond with our entire toolkit.” 

Officials say though cases among children are rare, there are largely cases that are part of “terminal chains” meaning they do not spread to individuals or large populations.

ただし、一部の地域ではまだ増加が見られ、ワレンスキー氏によると増加を防ぐために政府はウィルスへの対処に警戒が必要で、「慎重にかつ積極的に対応し続けないといけない」と述べています。

当局によると、子供の症例は少なく、多くのケースでは「ターミナルチェーン（末端連鎖）」である、つまり、個人または大規模な集団に広がらないということです。
