A 77 year old man who might have been keeping a wild kangaroo as a pet was killed by the animal in southwest Australia on Sept. 11. It happened in Redmond, 400 kilometers southeast of Perth .  Male kangaroos can be aggressive and fight people with the same techniques as they use with each other, lashing out with both their powerful hind legs. It was reportedly the first fatal attack by a kangaroo in Australia since 1936.

先月９月11日、オーストラリア南西部のパースから南東400キロのレッドモンドで、野生のカンガルーをペットとして飼っていたとみられる77歳の男性がカンガルーに襲われて死亡しました。　

　オスのカンガルーは凶暴になることがあり、強力な２本の後ろ脚を使ってカンガルー同士が戦うときのような蹴り技を繰り出して人間を攻撃してきますが、死亡事故に至ることは稀で、オーストラリアでカンガルーに襲われた死亡事故は1936年以来とのことです。
