Mattel, the makers of Barbie, are set to launch a new version of its long running doll that is equipped with a hot pink hearing aid as part of its 2022 Fashionista lineup that promotes diversity and inclusion.

The Fashionista dolls will also come in a variety of body types and skin colors as well as a Ken doll with the skin condition vitiligo. A Barbie with vitiligo was released in 2020 and became the best-selling of the Fashionista series.

This year is the first time a Barbie with a hearing aid will be sold. It was designed with the aid of Dr. Jen Richardson, a leading expert in audiology who said she was “beyond thrilled” that her young patients would have a doll that resembles them.
