こんにちは！Lizです。私が一年のアメリカへの留学を終えて、60日が経ちました。個人的に思った、留学の注意点やポイントをまとめたいとおもいます！
留学前
・たくさんの留学エージェントを比較しましょう！
→留学エージェントによって全く、料金もポリシー、ビジョンも違います！要求されるテストの種類も違うため、しっかりと比較して、自分にぴったりのエージェントを見つけてください！
・準備は早めに！
→テストへの準備、スーツケースの準備、留学は準備の連続です！しっかりと準備して人にしっかりと頼ってわからないところは解消していけるようにしましょう。
・ホストファミリーとしっかり連絡を取り合う！
→一年、半年、一ヶ月かかわらず、一番身近でお世話になる方々です。その人たちが好きなものなどをしっかりzoomなどをしながら把握し、お土産などしっかり買っていきましょう！私の場合、２週間に１回zoomをしていました。
・フライト
→乗り継ぎなどがあって不安な方が多いとおもいます！がわからなくなったらすぐに聞けば大丈夫！そして航空会社のアプリを入れて、チェックインを済ませておくととてもスムーズです！私のように欠航が相次いだり、ロストバゲッジする可能性もあるので、しっかりと大きなリュックに必要なものは全て入れておくようにすると良いとおもいます。
留学中
・親との連絡の頻度を決める
→せっかく留学に行ったのに毎日親と電話をしていてはもったいないです！ホームシックの時こそ、周りの人たちとたくさん遊んで、忙しくし、気を紛らわせましょう。
・色々なことに挑戦する
→日本でできないことをたくさんしてください！「留学生だから」と色々な人がたくさんのところに連れて行ってくれます。断らずフットワークは軽くいきましょう！
留学後
・英語を使う機会を持つ
→英語を使う機会が圧倒的に減り、英語力がだんだんと落ちていきます。私も、留学後から少し英語を話すスピードが遅くなったなと実感して危機感を感じているところです！要注意です！
私なりに気になったポイントをまとめてみたので、これから留学される方は参考にしていただけると嬉しいです：）
Hello! I am Liz. It has been 60days after I finished my one year study-abroad in the US. I will write points that I noticed throughout my studying abroad below!
Before going study abroad
- Compare different agents as many as possible!
->Depends on agents, there are a lot of differences in price, policy and vision. Required test is also different so you need to check each one out to find the best one for you!
- Start preparing as soon as you can!
->Getting ready for your test and packing, there are a lot of preparing steps to study abroad. Make sure you are well prepared and can rely on others to help you solve the areas you don’t understand.
- Contact with your host family well!
->Regardless of whether it is for a year, six months, or a month, these are the people who will be closest to you and will be taking care of you. Make sure you know what they like and buy souvenirs for them! In my case, I did a zoom call once every two weeks.
- Flight
->Many of you may be anxious because of connections and so on! If you have any questions about your flight, you can ask the people at the airport! And it is very smooth to check in with the airline’s app! If you are like me, there is a possibility of flight cancellations or lost baggage, so it is a good idea to pack everything you need in a large backpack.
During studying abroad
- Decide the frequency of texting or calling with your parents
->It would be a waste if you go all the way to study abroad and then spend every day on the phone with your parents! When you are homesick, this is the time to play a lot with the people around you, keep busy, and distract yourself.
- Challenge a lot of things!
->Please do many things you cannot do in Japan! Many people will take you to many places just because you are an international student. Don’t refuse, and don’t be afraid to do your footwork!
After studying abroad
- Have opportunities to use your English
->Opportunities to use English will decrease a lot and it gets hard to speak English. I am also noticing that my English skills are not as good as before I leave US.
