Clubroomsのインターンを課外活動として書きましたか？書いたならどう書きましたか？

Common Appの課外活動を書く欄が10個あるのですが、そこにClubroomsについて書きました。一つの課外活動に書ける文字制限が短く、英語で150 characters しか書くスペースがないのですが、私は参加する子どもたちのためにアクティビティを用意・ホストしたこと、以前企業のプレゼンを翻訳したこと、そしてPR用にブログをいくつか作成したことについて書きました。

課外活動において何かアドバイスはありますか？

私は課外活動をCommon App等に書く際に、「高校の時にたくさん課外活動をやっていた認識だったのに意外と１０枠全部埋まらないかも…」と思いました。もちろん10枠全てを埋める必要はありませんが、全て埋められていれば admissions officer も「この子は頑張っているな」、また「幅広いことに取り組んでいるんだな」という印象をより一層持つはずです。いざ高三になって、自分が想定していた以上に10枠に書くことを模索しないといけない場合になるかもしれないので、自分がやってきた・やっている課外活動を一旦全部書き出してみて、活動リストに何が足りないか可視化することをお勧めします。

Before I give some advice, let me give you some background information about myself.

I applied to Harvard University through Restrictive Early Action and was able to be accepted.

I applied for and passed the first round of the Yanai Tadashi Scholarship Foundation which will cover full expenses (tuition, healthcare, dormitory, etc.).

Now let’s move on to my advice through a Q&A format!

Did you write about Clubrooms for your Extracurricular Activities? If yes, what did you write about?

There are 10 columns in the Common App to write about extracurricular activities which is where I wrote about the Clubrooms. The word limit for each extracurricular activity is short with only 150 characters. In this limited space, I wrote about how I prepared activities, hosted sessions for the participating children, translating corporate presentations, and writing PR blogs.

Any other advice for extracurricular activities?

When I was writing out my extracurricular activities on the Common App, I thought “in my head, I thought I was involved in a lot of extracurricular activities, but surprisingly I may not be able to fill all 10 slots.” Of course, it isn’t necessary to fill all 10 slots, but if they are all filled, the admissions officer will have a better impression of the student: someone who is working hard and is involved in a wide range of activities. When you are in your senior year preparing for college applications, you might stumble upon a wall trying to fill in all 10 slots. So, I recommend that you write down all the extracurricular activities you have done or are doing in order to visualize what is missing and what you need to work on.
