Hi, I am Liz. Do you have a dream job? I don’t have one yet. When I asked people around me in the American high school, everyone answered clearly. They have a dream job. My host brother wants to be a person who flips houses, my best friend wants to be a surgeon, and my other friend wants to be a chemical engineer. When I heard it, I was surprised. I don’t think many of my friends in Japan can answer this question. Some people have a dream job but are afraid to say it aloud to others. It is so cool to have a dream job. American students look more confident than a lot of people in Japan. There are a lot of things we can be proud of ourselves for. We need to know that learning from American students.
こんにちは、アメリカに留学中の、Lizです。皆さんは将来の夢がありますか？私はまだありません。アメリカの高校で周りの人に聞いてみると、みんなはっきりと答えます。私のホストブラザーは家を修理する人になりたい、私の親友は外科医になりたい、もう一人の友人は化学エンジニアになりたいと言っています。それを聞いたとき、私は驚きました。日本にいる私の友人で、この質問に答えられる人は少ないと思います。夢の仕事があっても、人に声に出して言うのが怖いという人もいると思います。夢の仕事があるのはとてもかっこいいです。アメリカの学生は、日本の多くの人よりも自信があるように見えます。自分たちが誇れることがたくさんあります。アメリカの学生から学べることがあるようです。
