こんにちは、Kaiです。私はアメリカのケンタッキー州に住んでいました。ケンタッキーは田舎で何もないところでした。しかし、ケンタッキー州には、東京ではあまり見られない特徴がいくつかありました。日本に来て一番違うと感じたのは、生活の利便性です。日本はとても小さな国だと文句を言う人もいるかもしれませんが、人によっては気づかないメリットもあるのです。ケンタッキー州はトウモロコシ畑などが多いところだったので、交通手段は車しかありませんでした。そのため、両親の許可や監視がなければ、街中を自由に行くことができませんでした。スーパーに買い物に行くにも、車で行かなければならず、歩くという選択肢はなかったです。
ケンタッキーでの生活には多くのマイナス面がありましたが、ケンタッキーには良い面もありました。もちろん自然も多いのですが、私が一番好きだったのはブルーグラスです。ケンタッキー州といえば、馬と芝生が有名です。芝生を称えるのはかなりダサいですが、そこの芝生は本当にきれいでした。青く見えるほど緑色の草なので、ブルーグラスと呼ばれています。日本では人工芝のグラウンドが多い中、ケンタッキー州の芝生はとてもきれいで、その天然芝でスポーツをやることができました。日本での生活の方が楽しいのですが、芝生のフィールドでスポーツをやることが恋しくなることもあります。
Hello, my name is Kai and I used to live in the U.S. before I came back to Japan. To be exact, I lived in Kentucky where there is not much going on. However, there were some interesting features of Kentucky that can not be seen commonly in Tokyo. First, one of the greatest differences that I felt when I came to Japan was the convenience of living. Although some may complain about Japan being a very small country, it does have its benefits that some people do not realize. Since Kentucky was a place with many fields of corn and such, the only transportation that existed was cars. This meant that without my parents permission and supervision, I was not able to roam off on my own into the city because places were very far away from each other. If my family was to go to the supermarket, my family would have to drive there and walking was simply not an option. There were many downsides in living in Kentucky but there were some positive features that Kentucky had. Of course there was a lot of nature but what I loved the most about Kentucky was its bluegrass. Kentucky is known for their horses and its grass. It does sound pretty lame to honor grass but the grass there was really nice. Basically, it was called bluegrass since the grasses were so green that it seemed like it was blue. I enjoyed playing various sports on the grass of Kentucky which in Japan is very uncommon as many fields are artificial turf. Although I enjoy living in Japan more, I do sometimes miss the freedom of having grass fields to play sports on.
