The Akita Municipal Government has announced it will hold a lottery for the opportunity to buy one of 10 used manhole covers with a festival lantern design.

The covers, which were manufactured between 1989 and 2005, have varying amounts of wear and tear but will all go for 3,000 yen each.

The city has twice sold off such decommissioned manhole covers to enthusiasts, with 86 applications coming in for 20 covers during the last sale in 2019.

秋田市は、祭りの提灯（秋田竿燈まつり）のデザインの使用済みマンホール蓋の抽選販売を行うと発表しました。

1989年から2005年の間に製造されたもので、錆（さび）や傷、摩耗（まもう）はありますが、全て各3000円で販売する予定です。

秋田市でのマンホール蓋の販売は今回が3回目となりますが、ご当地ならではのデザインを施したマンホール蓋は愛好家の間で人気があり、2018年と19年に販売した時には、県内外から多くの購入申し込みがあり抽選での販売でした。
