The National Consumer Affairs Center is calling for attention to accidents in which children pinch their fingers on folding steps (examples shown in the picture) which are often used in bathrooms and other places for small children.

There are a few reports of accidents per year, one accident involved a one-year-old child who had the tip of his or her finger amputated.

The National Consumer Affairs Center advises families with small children not to buy these kind of folding steps.

国民生活センターは、小さな子どもが洗面所などで使うことが多い折りたたみ式の踏み台で、指が挟まれる事故に注意を呼びかけています。

事故の報告は年間で数件ですが、中には、1歳の子どもが指の先を切断する事故もあったとのことで、同センターでは、「小さな子どもがいる家庭では、折りたたみ式のものは買わないように」とアドバイスしています。
