On October 2, a man in his 40s living in Nagasaki Prefecture, opened the lid of a toilet in his apartment and found a snake approximately 1.6 meters long. The next day, the snake was captured by Environmental Health Management and reported to the prefectural Police Station.

　The police are investigating the possibility that the snake was kept as a pet by someone and escaped through the toilet plumbing.　According to the police, the snake is a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a species native to South America, weighing approximately 1.9 kg. It is sold at pet stores, etc., and no permit is required to have it as a pet.

10月2日午後4時すぎ、長崎県内で、アパート住民の40代男性が洋式便器のふたを開けたところ、体長約1.6メートルのヘビがいたそうです。驚いた男性はふたを閉めて便器内にヘビを閉じ込め、翌日、環境衛生管理業に捕獲され、県警江迎署に届けられました。

　男性はヘビを飼育しておらず、同署はペットとして飼われていたものがトイレの配管を通じて逃げてきた可能性もあるとみて調べています。

　同署によると、ヘビは体重約1.9キロの南米原産種「ブラジルレインボーボア」。ペットショップなどで販売されており、飼育許可などは必要ないとのことです。
